Awakening To Our Angelic Ancestry: Jupiter in Cancer ~ June 2025 - July 2026 / p.2: history & predictions

A Short Introduction

I know, I know: Jupiter has been in Cancer since June 9th, 2025 and I need to get it together with my timings. That said, Jupiter's transit through the sign of its exaltation (which is good news, after being in Gemini, the sign of its detriment, for the last year) will last until the 30th of July 2026. So, we've still got nearly a whole year left before this article becomes irrelevant.

I go over all of this in Part 1, of course, which you can read by clicking here, but honestly? Part 2 is probably more interesting. This article is where we'll look back on historical examples of Jupiter in Cancer, before casting our eyes up at the potential ways this transit might manifest in our current decade.

Historical Transits: June 2013-July 2014

Jupiter last transited Cancer between June 25th 2013 and July 16th, 2014. Before that, the great benefic was in the sign of the crab from July 2001 to August 2002. If you can, think back to what happened in your life during those periods. Or to take a more Cancerian approach, I would think about how you felt at the time. Similar themes may crop up again now.

The same is true when it comes to looking at the bigger picture. When we look at how this transit affects us beyond a personal level, influencing culture, politics and the broader collective consciousness, we once again, find that history has a tendency to repeat itself. While of course there will always be other factors involved, as no transit (just like no person!) truly exists in isolation, it is still essential, in my opinion, to take a look at Jupiter's past transits for a better sense of how it will affect us now.

While Cancer is one of the strongest signs for the planet of blessings & good luck, we should be honest in acknowledging that as always, the news was indeed plagued by stories of war (and these stories themselves do show an important pattern, in regards to what's happening in the world now), natural disaster (and particularly lots of water-related ones, such as typhoons, which I suppose is fitting since Cancer is indeed a water sign) , disease (for example, the Ebola epidemic was in full swing during this period) and general impending doom during Jupiter in Cancer's last transit. With Jupiter's 2013-2014 transit including a square to Uranus in Aries, and an opposition to Pluto in Capricorn, could we really expect things to go any other way? That said, plenty of positive events took place during this period, too, although culturally, a lot of it is subjective, and as with anything in astrology, its significance in your personal life would depend on your own natal chart (and if you're interested in learning more about this, you can always feel free to book a reading with me).

A fourth-wave feminist movement gained in popularity during this time, for example mirroring Jupiter in Cancer's deep association with the Moon, a symbol of the mother and also, womanhood in general. This feminism was focused more on intersectionality (i.e. between misogyny and other forms of oppression such as racism, classism or ableism) than the feminist movements of the past. The sex-positivity and body-positivity movements of the time sort of evolved from this, as well. On a similar note, there was more acknowledgment of LGBT rights and trans rights, in particular, deepening the focus on gender & sexual diversity that dominated Jupiter's previous transit in the sign of the Gemini Twins. In fact, it was almost immediately after Jupiter's move into Cancer that the U.S government's Supreme Court decided to grant federal recognition to same-sex marriage. Essentially, it seemed that the great benefic's transit through in the sign of the crab played a huge role in expanding our ideas about the home and family, which are also very lunar themes. This broadening of what types of partnerships or families are acceptable by society can even be seen in the TV shows and movies of the era, such as the popular American sitcoms, Modern Family and Parenthood.

On, perhaps, somewhat of a similar note, noting the cardinal water sign's caring and nurturing personality, this transit also widened societal ideas about what types of care should be given. This can be seen, for example, in Belgium becoming the first country in the world to make euthanasia a legal treatment for terminally ill patients of all ages. More generally, caring for the vulnerable was a key cultural value at the time. This doesn't just refer to healthcare, in a physical sense (and in the USA, Obamacare was developed to help make sure everyone could get access to the care that they needed, at least in theory) but also, emotionally, mentally & maybe even spiritually.

Many concepts previously restricted almost entirely to the world of therapy & psychology began trending at this time, with therapist speak entering into the mainstream. A lot of emphasis was placed on the importance of validating other's emotions and their subjective identities, with the concepts of trigger warnings and safe spaces becoming commonplace. There was a lot of controversy in the media about millenials being the most coddled and even childish of all generations, with a lot of us not knowing how to do "adulting" properly, even as we entered the age where we should, due to so many of us having had helicopter parents growing up.

More needs to be said on the topic of world politics, as much of what occurred in 2013 & 2014 is very relevant to the events of today, taking for example, the Russia-Ukraine War. It was during Jupiter in Cancer's last transit that Russia annexed Crimea and also when the Donetsk People's Republic declared its independence from Ukraine. Countries affiliated with NATO, such as the USA, as well as those in Europe, put sanctions and restrictions on Russia in response. Meanwhile, in Ukraine, the former President Viktor Yanukovych was removed from office after provoking civil unrest by rejecting an economic association with the EU in favor of closer ties to Vladmir Putin.

In light of current events, the above information is very interesting and may have something to do with Jupiter expanding the nationalistic spirit of loving one's homeland. On a similar yet different note, this is also when Narenda Modi was elected as India's 14th Prime Minister, a place in office that he still holds today, which helped to encourage the sentiment of Hindu Nationalism present within the country. Of course, with Jupiter as benefic, there were some moves toward peace within the world sphere, as well. For example, this can be seen with Iran agreeing to limit their nuclear development program in exchange for relieving sanctions.

World politics aside, identity politics became especially relevant during this time. This, once again, has a lot to do with the Cancerian focus on one's personal emotions, as well as their background and even their ancestry.  Likewise, the notion of the personal being political and the political being personal gained popularity. This popularity was expanded by the internet and the emotional contagion facilitated by social media algorithms, which brings me to the influence that this transit seemed to have on shaping internet culture.

While it may be very niche, sea punk was one internet trend I remember being very popular on Tumblr during this time, which just seems fitting for Jupiter's transit through a water sign represented by a literal sea animal. However, more generally, this transit saw the rising popularity of memes in internet culture, as well as a normalization of online communities & social groups. Interestingly, a lot of internet culture was built around typically Cancerian nostalgia too, particularly of the 1990's and early y2k, and the childhood memories these times provided for millennials growing up. Actually this year saw the popularity of smart phones increase to such a high degree that it marked the first time ever that the number of people in the U.S. using mobile devices to access their internet was greater than those using computers. This last point is especially interesting, in that it shows us a pattern when comparing it to Jupiter's last transit before that in 2001-2002.

Historical Transits: July 2001-August 2002

Jupiter's transit through Cancer in 2001 introduced us to the iPod, a portable music & media player created by Apple Inc. Hence this is why it is particularly interesting that 2013's transit marked the iPhone's peak in popularity. This new technology seemingly allowed us to have more personal control over the music & media we consume than ever before, and once we popped our headphones in, we could be immersed in our own worlds. the same way a crab hides inside its shell.

Maybe that is a bit of a stretch or maybe not, since similar advances in the world of computers and the beginnings of an internet-dominated culture also took place at this time. Interestingly, apparently, the British scientist, Kevin Warwick carried out the first direct electronic communication experiment between two human nervous systems at this time, providing us with further proof that Elon Musk does not have a right to a patent on telepathy as he claims to.

However, 2001-2002 was also a time when we saw how the darker side to Jupiter in Cancer could be expressed. This is when 9/11 happened, giving then-U.S president George W. Bush a reason (or excuse) to invade Afghanistan as well as Iraq, and the War on Terror officially began. While Pluto in Sagittarius & its opposition to Saturn in Gemini is likely the more direct culprit to be blamed for igniting religious extremism, Jupiter in Cancer could, perhaps, account for some of the nationalism involved, along with a general rise in conservatism, as well as government overreach. While to some degree, it was good for bringing people together in the face of conflict, the darkness of Jupiter in Cancer's patriotic spirit could be seen in the censorship of dissenting views (which with Cancer in the sign most associated with home & family, was of course said to "protect" for the "safety of the children" & all that) and fear of terrorism leading to paranoid hatred & a desire to isolate ourselves in our own insulated bubbles. In other words, this is the darkness of the crab hiding all alone in its own shell, or even having to.

In contrast, however, Switzerland ended its history of strict isolationist neutrality by joining the United Nations. Likewise, this was when the Euro currency was established as the official physical currency in the European Union, connecting the continent (or a large portion of it anyway) through the use of a shared monetary system.

Despite the War on Terror, the Jupiter in Cancer transit of 2001 & 2002 was very peaceful in other ways. The caring nature of the cardinal water sign could be seen through an increased awareness of climate change leading to more efforts to take care of our planet, who we can nickname Mother Earth. Moves were made to improve relations between India and Pakistan, while the IRA in Northern Ireland began disarmament, and Israel & Palestine agreed to a ceasefire...at least for a time. On a related note, the NATO-Russia council was established and Putin & Bush signed the Strategic Offensive Reductions Treaty. Similarly, there were some improvements in US-China relations. Meanwhile, China signed its 2001 Treaty of Friendship with Russia.

As with the Jupiter in Cancer transit of the more recent past, its prior transit also coincided with changes in our cultural understanding of the family and an emphasis placed on caregiving. For example, the Church of England finally granted divorced individuals the right to remarry. Meanwhile on the (potentially dystopian) technological front, American scientists created their first successful clone of a human embryo (which is interesting, given what I had written about the currently-coinciding transit of Saturn in Aries).

Of course, there were a lot of positive efforts to protect children, as well. This includes, for instance, Optional Protocol on the Involvement of Children in Armed Conflict came into an effect, which established an internationalist agreement against the use of child soldiers in warfare. On I guess somewhat of a similar note, an investigation by the Boston Globe resulted to the criminal prosecution of a number of Roman Catholic priests, which helped to put an end to their child abuse. Singer R. Kelly was infamously prosecuted for similar charges at this time.

Meanwhile, this was a key moment in the world of children's literature, with J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter series hitting a peak in popularity with the release of a blockbuster film based on her bestselling series of kids' books about the much-loved wizard. We could argue this also sparked more of an interest in magic and connection to nature or the spirit world, a theme I very much associated with Jupiter in Cancer.

Jupiter in Cancer: 2025-2026 Predictions

So, what will Jupiter in Cancer's transit bring with it this time around? Our predictions are influenced by both the historical examples above, as well as consideration to the bigger cosmic picture painted by the other currently transiting planets, as discussed here. This includes Saturn and Neptune in Aries (along with their brief retrograde back into Pisces, where the North Node is opposing the South Node in Virgo), Uranus in Gemini and Pluto in Aquarius.

Honestly? While normally these articles tend to be more focused on making mundane predictions as opposed to more personal ones, I am actually a bit stumped here, as I can't help but feel like Jupiter in Cancer's transit is, in some ways, a lot more emotional and subjective in nature, simply due to the nature of the sign. As opposed to Jupiter in Gemini, which I firmly believed would cause political chaos, proliferation of conspiracy theories, and the truth coming out, the facts exposing people for who they are & reality for what it is, my biggest prediction regarding Jupiter in Cancer is more about an increase in connection with our ancestors, which extends to our connection with our connection to nature, as a whole. Ruled by the Moon, Cancer is associated with the mother and nature is ultimately the mother who nurtures us all. That said, while it does seem like more personal of a prediction, it ultimately extends beyond the self into the culture at large, influencing the themes found in the media of the time, as well as the arts and sciences.

I think, for example, that this Jupiter in Cancer transit might have a positive effect on the creation of more effective initiatives for the protection of Mother Earth. This includes all of its creatures, the animals, plants etc. and not just humans. There could be laws put in place to protect the environment or more influential scientific breakthroughs, especially when it comes to aquatic environments and/or life underwater.

On a similar note, I would like to think that this transit could bring more protections and freedoms for women & children, as well. This could be a deeper investigation into the abuse perpetuated by people in power, including those on the Jeffrey Epstein list. The exposure of the sex-trafficking crimes committed by celebrities such as P. Diddy, politicians like Donald Trump, and other super wealthy people started when Jupiter was in Gemini, but perhaps, its entrance into a new sign, a cardinal sign, will lead to more actionable consequences. Hopefully, this helps to create a safer world for vulnerable people, where the rich & famous are no longer safe to abuse their power and get away with it. On that note, people may even stop looking up to public figures or putting them on a pedestal. More people might even turn away from caring about status or the spotlight altogether, to focus on what's really real, on more of, like, a personal/emotional level.

It is important to consider that Jupiter is a planet associated with freedom, as well as education. So, this could mean more educational opportunities for women (particularly in the context of places or cultures where women's right to learn has been suppressed) and higher quality, choice-based, and child-centered education (as opposed to being more instructive or teacher-led) overall, perhaps with greater emphasis on experiential and overall innovative ways of learning. Interestingly, the United States placed its No Child Left Behind Act during Jupiter's 2001 transit through Cancer, with the intent of raising the national academic standards. I could see something similar, in a way, yet altogether very different, happening now.

These themes could apply to further education, as well, maybe with less emphasis placed on the traditional university experience, outside of those seeking a strictly & purely academic path. More people may be opting to go to trade schools or alternative means of learning after they finish off their required schooling. This is especially relevant, as A.I. replaces workers in many fields traditionally requiring college degrees, and as this new technology, along with the simple internet itself, dramatically changes the way that people of all ages learn new things.

Often, Jupiter in Cancer transits can bring nostalgia for past times, as well, and this can affect fashion or media trends i.e. the 90's/y2k nostalgia of Jupiter in Cancer's last transit. This time, we may have nostalgia for periods even further back than that, or possibly, there may simply be a lot of cultural nostalgia for a "simpler" time without so much emphasis on modern technology. Think along the lines of the "cottage-core" aesthetic and similar trends. There may be a lot of cultural nostalgia for a softer, quieter, slower-paced lifestyle, one more family-focused, personal, or rooted in nature, free from the stressful sensory overloaded detachment characteristic of modern life, and basically, our aesthetic trends may reflect this.

However, this could also involve deeper looks into the spiritual ways of our ancestors or genealogy research, and a look at how that effects us as individuals currently on the personal, emotional level. There could be a lot of focus placed on psychology and anthropology, particularly questions about the nature of consciousness and what makes us human, now that some scientists believe we have robots achieving sentience. On that note, it's possible that science (particularly in the realm of social sciences) may become more open-minded, somewhat, to matters of spirituality i.e. matters of the personal, subjective, and the consciousness of the inner self as opposed to facts that can be objectively observed in the material realm, especially when our cultural definition of "truth" seems to becoming more subjective everyday, anyway.

Unfortunately, it does look like we might experience some of the dark traits of Cancerian energy (which I also discuss in my article about Pluto in Cancer) such as heightened nationalism, increased isolation and paranoia about threats to our security. In the United States, for example, a country that interestingly is experiencing its Jupiter Return with its transit through Cancer, Donald Trump has already signed a proclamation banning entry into the United States for several countries while also imposing visa revocations and banning new visas for international students at Harvard University Cambridge, Massachusetts. This reflects a broader increase of conservatism and anti-immigrant sentiment felt in countries throughout the world. For example, riots by anti-immigration protests occurred in Norther Ireland shortly after Jupiter's entrance into Cancer, as well, leading to several deaths & injuries. While you might think Jupiter in Cancer would be more positive, and even liberatory or freeing, than this, the manifestation of this transit's "darker side" makes a lot sense when you consider its square to Saturn and Neptune, both in Aries, especially considering that a lot of this stems from fears of violence & terrorism which seem to be themes of these transits, as well.

There's a lot to say here involving housing, as well. I would like to think that Jupiter, as a benefic, in Cancer, a sign associated with the home, would help put an end to the housing crisis that's been affecting so many nations across the globe. There may be more efforts to ensuring that everyone is cared for and toward providing people with the food and shelter necessarily for survival, etc. etc. However, because of the square to Saturn & Neptune in Aries, there may be challenges with this too, and it could be that gentrification and/or more expensive living costs leads to an increase in conflict and/or war. Let's hope that no one is unable to afford a place to live any longer.

Conclusion

All in all, Jupiter in Cancer is a truly beautiful transit that is sure to bring us many blessings! For more information, you can read part 1 of my article about Jupiter in Cancer. Over the course of the next few weeks, I will write some horoscopes including information about how this transit will affect each sign.

That said, it will not affect everyone in the same way or to the same extent. Those with placements in the cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra, Capricorn) will be most intensely affected, while those with placements in the other water signs (Pisces and Scorpio) will be very positively affected by this transit, as well. In any case, you want to look at what house Cancer is placed in your birth chart (and also look to Pisces & Sagittarius for which houses Jupiter rules) to see what area(s) of life you'll receive the most benefits from this transit. To look deeper into how this transit will affect you, personally, it would best help to book a reading. You can book a reading with me by clicking here.
