Introduction

Jupiter will enter Leo on the 30th of June, 2026, after spending the last year in the sign of Cancer, the crab. The great benefic, a planet associated with good luck, blessings & serendipity, will remain in the sign of the lion until the 26th of July, 2027. So, how can we expect this transit to affect us here on earth?

While Cancer is the sign of Jupiter's exaltation, making the planet's capacity for abundance and growth particularly strong, its move into Leo comes with its own blessings (especially for those whose natal charts are impacted by it). With Jupiter in Cancer,  a water sign, emotions were emphasized and you may have found this growth to be of a more personal nature. This process may have been internal, invisible from other's, sort of like a seed germinating underneath the ground. Perhaps, it's only now, as Jupiter leaves the sign of the Moon for the sign of the Sun, that this once-seed sprouts up into a beautiful flower for everyone to look at it in enjoyment. For many people, Jupiter in Cancer's transit seemed to be about connecting with one's roots. With Jupiter in Leo, it's time for the tree to branch out.

Jupiter in Leo: What Does It Mean?

Leo, is of course, the sign of the lion, the King (or Queen?) of the Jungle, and its ruling planet is the Star of our Solar System, the Sun itself. As the largest planet in our Solar System, however, Jupiter arguably rivals the Sun's size & strength, since after all, it was named after the King of the Gods in Roman mythology! So, a royal planet in a royal sign, huh? This makes Jupiter in Leo feel larger than life, a placement destined to shine brightly. On one hand, I'd associated this placement with power, celebrity status or anyone in the spotlight or looking to gain it. However, this placement also emphasizes personal sovereignty and encourages everyone to express themselves creatively & with a sense of fun, and to take a stand on what they believe with strength, courage & confidence!

Those born with this placement may naturally find themselves the center of attention, often without even trying! If this is you, it means you are experiencing your Jupiter Return, which is generally a time of good luck. Jupiter is also the planet most often associated with faith and can be an indicator of one's philosophy or belief system. Since Leo is a sign associated with individualism, those with Jupiter here tend to have faith in the power of the individual to make their own choices & create change in the world around them. In other words, they tend to believe in the power of the individual to create their own destiny. These individuals tend to have a strong creative spark & whatever their convictions are, they tend to have a strong need to express them loudly & proudly! The lion is a symbol of strength & courage, and the ability to act on one's beliefs and confidently take a stand is something they value highly. In some cases, there may be the potential danger of identifying so strongly with one's beliefs to the point of intolerance for anything that will challenge them, but generally, this is a positive placement that wants to uplift others, as well! After all, lions are playful creatures and Leo a sign very much associated with having fun.

Jupiter in Leo: 2026-2027 and its relationship to other transits

So, above is the chart for the moment Jupiter enters the sign of Leo at exactly 00'00°. It's interesting that this ingress occurred within the same 24 hours as Mercury's station Retrograde in Cancer, a sign ruled by the Moon, along with the Full Moon in Capricorn, sign of the Moon's detriment, opposite the Sun in Cancer. For me, this isn't necessarily a negative omen but there is a certain theme here, of lunar themes being replaced by solar ones. This can be a positive thing, bringing what was hidden in the dark out into the light again.

Venus, the other benefic planet, is in Leo, as well, at 19'20° , which I feel is a positive thing, as well. This can be a symbol of love, beauty, fun & playfulness: shining light on what we love, making it the center of our attention, taking pride in ourselves & what we create, loving ourselves & expressing ourselves freely & most of all having the courage to love fully with all our heart!

Apart from that, there are a couple of important aspects that definitely need to be mentioned. First of all, Jupiter in Leo will be opposite Pluto in Aquarius, going exact at 4'26° on the 20th of July 2026. This is a symbol of intense ideological divisions, a conflict of belief being taken to an extreme, possibly due to power struggles, narcissism, and pride, but potentially the liberation from tyranny, as well. This could be a conflict between the people (Pluto in Aquarius) against the king or authority figure (Jupiter in Leo) leading to a transformation of society. However, I'm also thinking there could be schisms of all sorts amongst people of the same general religion or ideology, and obsessing over problems that aren't necessary, for the sake of one's ego. Still, this could be a full-scale revolution which, while challenging, is still necessary for the greater good of humanity.

It's interesting to note that the North Node will be entering Aquarius, as well too, meaning that the South Node will be with Jupiter in Leo from the 27th of July, 2026 until March 26th, 2028. These two karmic points have been in Pisces & Virgo since January 2025. With the North Node conjunct Pluto in Aquarius (which will be exact on the 30th November 2027 at 5'11°) and the South Node conjunct Jupiter in Leo (which will be exact on 11th November 2026 at 25'29° & again, with Jupiter Retrograde, on 1st March 2027 at 19'41° and yet again, at 17'04° on April 20th 2027) will probably be power to the people and an overthrowing of the leader's throne. This could arguably, perhaps, involve karmic consequences for world leaders of all kinds, and a reversal of current power dynamics. People may be forced to let go of their selfish egos and focus on the world around them instead.

On a more positive, or at least, an easier note, Jupiter in Leo will be trine Neptune & Saturn in Aries. While Saturn and Jupiter can be very different in what they represent, there is harmony between these different domains right now. With the planet of expansion & the planet of discipline both in fire signs, things are heating up, allowing us to put our visions in practice and enjoy the fruits of abundance that result from our hard work. This trine will first be exact on the 31st of August 2026 at 13'41° with Saturn Retrograde, and again on the 3rd of April 2027 at 17'08°, this time with Jupiter Retrograde. Lastly, they will make an exact trine one more time, now with both planets in direct motion, on 11th July 2027 at 27'10°.

As for Neptune in Aries, Jupiter in Leo will make an exact trine to it only once on 20th July, 2026 at 4'22°. Again, this is a harmonious aspect, with both planets in fire signs. Our imagination, creative abilities, our empathy for others and our ability to see beyond the mundane may be expanded at this time, or there could be an increase in feelings of spirituality and/or oneness with the universe.

You might notice from the ingress chart that Jupiter entered Leo around the same time that Mars was conjunct Uranus in Gemini, with Jupiter sextile these planets. Jupiter will be exactly sextile Uranus in Gemini on 21st July, 2026 at 4'37°. This is another positive, harmonious or "easy" aspect, this time between air & fire. This could increase our sense of spontaneity or freedom, especially in the realm of thought, creativity & communication, leading to productive actions.

Last but not least, it's important that Jupiter will be Retrograde in Leo between 12th December 2026 (at 27'01°) and 13th April 2027 (at 17'00°). During these four months, the themes associated with Jupiter in Leo may take on a slower or more internal quality. Jupiter Retrograde periods are often about spiritual reflection and philosophical introspection. It's also a good time to become aware of whatever is hindering your development so that you can move forward and grow, especially in regards to themes associated with the Jupiter in Leo transit overall.

Conclusion

I honestly hate to keep doing this (and also, feel frustrated with myself that my articles seem to continuously be delayed - is it me or does it feel like time is speeding up faster?) but as you see, I have separated this article into two parts yet again. Honestly, this is due to its long length and the short attention spans of most people these days (which is to be expected, since we have so little free time). So stay tuned for the second part of this article, which will be focused on Jupiter in Leo periods throughout history, as well as my predictions for how it will affect the world now, at the level of mundane astrology! I tried to keep it all in just one article this time but the problem was, the history section was just too long and I had a hard time shortening it! I hope you can understand that.

All in all, Jupiter in Leo is a truly beautiful transit that is sure to bring us many blessings! However, it will not affect everyone in the same way or to the same extent. Those with placements in the fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius) will be most intensely affected, while those with placements in the other fire signs (Aries and Sagittarius) will be very positively affected by this transit, as well. In any case, you want to look at what house Leo is placed in your birth chart (and also look to Pisces & Sagittarius for which houses Jupiter rules) to see what area(s) of life you'll receive the most benefits from this transit. To look deeper into how this transit will affect you, personally, it would best help to book a reading. You can book a reading with me by clicking here.
